Weaving the Fabric
of Community
South Hiram Elementary School, grade 4, 2011
The abandoned woolen mill in the center of Kezar Falls came to life for these 4th graders, as they heard stories from former mill workers about rats lurking behind the looms and the lunch bell that rang out over the town. By visiting a sheep farm in Porter they learned where wool comes from, and how it can be spun by hand.
Materials: acrylic paint and permanent marker on 4x6 ft. masonite panels
