History in the Making

Bucksport Elementary  School,

6th grade, 2021

Sixth grade students explored and documented the impact of the ongoing Covid pandemic on their personal lives, their school and their community. They wrote reflections of their own experiences with remote learning and social isolation, as well as interviewing local community members: a manager at Hannafords, a nurse at EMMC, an editor at the Ellsworth American and a beauty salon owner.

Mural materials: acrylic paint and permanent marker on birch panels

collaborators: Community members interviewed by students

grant support: Maine Arts Commission
