Big Stories from Two Little Towns
Brownfield Denmark Elementary School, 3rd grade,
2012
In 1947 there was a devastating fire that almost completely destroyed the town of Brownfield. Fourth graders heard many stories about the fire, including firefighter John Pandora's story of being knocked out, falling in a hole and the fire passing over him. There were also acounts of lumber mills and log-rolling on the Saco, and cooking over a woodstove.
