Project journals are at the heart of the Local Stories Project - students keep journals throughout their research that combine writing and drawing. But these flexible, multidisciplinary tools can be used in a variety of stand alone ways in the classroom! For example, Cape Elizabeth third graders kept journals during their research on Portland history, then each class created digital slideshows in Book Creator that combined drawing, writing, and a recorded student reflection.
